Exploring Welsh Landmarks

The land group visit Paxton’s Tower

Our learners have been out on location in the beautiful (but damp) Welsh countryside to research castles and famous landmarks.

Robbie, Millie, Richard and Rhys have been researching places that they would like to visit in Carmarthenshire as part of their personal, development & citizenship (PDC) topic on Wales! The first landmark they chose to visit was Paxton's Tower in Llanarthney, which was a nice walk with amazing 360 degrees views, however it was very muddy!

They learnt that the majestic tower was built over 200 years ago and is in fact a folly designed to commemorate Lord Nelson and impress the people of the valley.

Fortunately around here we have lots of castles and landmarks to explore, so we’ll be hitting the hills again very soon, on another research mission!
