Learners following a land-based curriculum spend lots of time outdoors. Their work varies with the seasons and at this time of year it's all about harvesting the last of the crop before the first frost comes in! They’ve been picking carrots, swede, potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage and courgettes.
They have also been cleaning the compost area and ensuring the compost is being layered properly. We use this for our raised beds to grow crops and plants so the garden is sustainable in a smart and eco-friendly way. Food waste is also added to the compost area which is rich in terms of both nutrients and makes perfect fertiliser for homegrown veggies and herbs!
