We’re taking skills development to the next level May 9th - 12th, by putting our timetable on hold, to run a whole week of competitions on site.
These competitions will inspire, encourage, and motivate individuals to push themselves to new heights, and recognise excellence in their chosen field.
We’re pushing against the stereotype that ‘competing’ is too complex for our learners. We know that if competition briefs are suitably adapted, we can mitigate elements, such as time pressure, that our learners find tough.
Four competitions that have been designed by our tutors, will be pitched to the learners:
- Inclusive Skills: First Aid
- Inclusive Skills: Snip and Stitch
- Inclusive Skills: Animal Care
- Inclusive Skills: Stool Weaving
The learners will then decide which competitions they will train for and enter. The competitions will be pitched to learners this week.
Then the training, competing and celebrating will all happen next week – it’s going to be jam-packed!
We’re delighted to have guest judges from some of our partner organisations, Inspiring Skills Wales, Coleg Sir Gâr and even Welsh Government.
We’ll be sending out lots more information on the briefs and the judges, as well as hearing from learners about what their expectations are.
As well as developing skills, training and competing with peers installs team spirit, kindness, and a deep sense of pride. There is a real sense of community and achievement when you learn through competitions.
It’s going to be epic!
