Ann Davies MP comes to visit

Learners meet the Plaid Cymru MP for Caerfyrddin

Our learners are used to meeting visitors from all walks of life. On Friday 27 June they welcomed a special guest, fresh from Westminster, Ann Davies MP.

Ann got a tour of the site and the chance to meet animals, learners and staff.

Showing off the smallholding

Ethan and Faith met Ann up by the carpark and walked her to the smallholding where they introduced the animals and Gareth who is a tutor and an expert in animal welfare. Gareth explained to Ann how the Animal Welfare Skills Competition works and what the benefits are to learners.

Wonderful woodwork skills

Ethan took great pleasure in showing Ann what he had created as part of the Woodwork Skills Competition. He then presented her with a weaved stool to take away - what a great gift.

A voice for everyone regardless of learning ability

Democracy depends on the inclusion and participation of everyone in society, not just a select few. Teaching young people to express their wants and needs is a fundamental part of what we do, so welcoming an elected member of Parliament was a fantastic opportunity.

Ann asked lots of questions and promised to return another time to see more. We seized the opportunity to ask if we could come for a visit to Parliament – to which Ann agreed to help set up. This is exciting news, arrangements will be underway to book a visit to the Houses of Parliament next term.

Watch out Westminster, we are on our way!

It was a pleasure to welcome Ann to site, Diolch Ann.
