Local music volunteer wanted

We are looking for a patient locally-based person, to volunteer with us!

Last year we started our brand new music therapy programme. This is run by our trained therapist Sally. Her sessions are popular and by their very nature, quite hands-on.

We would love to find a kind, enthusiastic, organised person from the local community that would enjoy meeting some passionate players and keen music-makers!

You don't have to be a musician but an appreciation of music would be fantastic.

You could support us by ...

  • Setting up and packing down sessions.
  • Welcoming and assisting participants to feel comfortable and included.
  • Offering gentle guidance to individuals during sessions as guided by the session leader.
  • Assisting the session leader in running activities (for example handing out or collecting instruments or helping with technology).
  • Participating musically where appropriate (no high-level musical skill required - just a willingness to be involved).
  • Helping maintain a positive and respectful environment.

The role may be particularly suited to someone who is ...

  • Kind, patient and emotionally attuned.
  • Interested in music therapy, or working with additional needs.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.

It would be great if you had ...

  • Experience in supporting people with additional needs.
  • An interest in music therapy or community work.
  • Basic music skills or confidence engaging in music making.

Our music sessions take place across the week. Any time you can give would be appreciated.

If you would like to get involved please contact Sally to arrange a chat: sallygreenwell@elidyrct.ac.uk
