New Education Hub

The long-awaited start on the building of our new Education Hub has now begun.

Built in the 1980’s from the most economic materials available at the time, a small number of craft workshops and learning facilities at Elidyr Communities Trust had surpassed their original life expectancy.  A project was proposed to develop a purpose built Education Hub to provide a long term specialist learning environment.

The Education Hub gives us the opportunity to provide our learners  with an exceptional place to learn, allowing them to fully engage with the learning experiences available to them.

With 2 phases to the project the first phase of the build will include a state-of-the-art ICT suite, weaving and printing workshops, 4 training kitchens, a community voice meeting room and an essential skills suite.

Phase 2 will see the construction of workshops which will accommodate woodwork and candle making.

Costing £1.4 million, we were delighted to be awarded £700,000 from the Big Lottery Fund Wales towards the build. Various other funding streams, our own reserves and a pledge from our Parents Association to raise £100,000 means that we can now forge ahead.

The Education Hub is scheduled to take 15 months and we hope that our Coleg Elidyr learners will be able to start benefitting from this fabulous new addition to our existing facilities from December 2021.
