Staff trips are part of our wellbeing activities for staff at Elidyr Communities Trust and we now have trips three times a year under different themes.
Why organised activities are important
Every staff member gets one paid trip each year. Our team work in different departments and locations and some roles have shift patterns. It is not always easy for people to get together informally across the organisation. Building a shared culture doesn’t just happen. Opportunities for socialising and spending time together sometimes must be planned.
The sun shone for our August trips
Between Tuesday 12 August and Friday 15 August we’ve had an outing each day. Staff picked the trip they wanted to join as not everyone enjoys the same thing. Over the wellbeing week we visited:
Aquapark Cardiff
Cosmeston Lakes At The Vale is the location for Aquapark Cardiff a huge outdoor inflatable park. We picked the ideal day, as it was extremely hot and the park was the perfect place to cool down.

Tower climb at Zip World
17 members of staff went to Zip World. Everyone had a great time although there were a few that chickened out of some of the activities. We won't mention any names.

Aberglasney afternoon tea
The more refined members of our team enjoyed a tasty afternoon tea at Aberglasney Gardens they visited the house and looked around the gardens too.

Swansea sim racing
Simrace1 is a motorsport simulation centre for those that want a challenge from the comfort of a gaming chair.

Lumberjack axe throwing in Swansea
Urban axe throwing is a popular outing. We visited Swansea Lumberjack throwing - it was scary to see how well quite a few members of staff could chuck an axe!

Join our team
As well as team trips, we also have a regular programme of training and other wellbeing activities.
We have a great team that work extremely hard to support our learners and residents to live their best life every day. If you are interested in joining our team, look at what it’s like to work with us.
