Llandovery Rotary Club visit

Local supporters have an Elidyr experience!

We were delighted to welcome members of the Llandovery Rotary Club to site yesterday. Many people hadn’t visited before and it was a great opportunity to show off some of our work.

Llandovery Rotary Club

Rotary Clubs have 35,000 members in over 1,500 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. These groups are full of people volunteering their time and talents to tackle challenges that impact their local community. Some of the recent activities from the Llandovery Rotary club include donating 8,000 croci bulbs to the local community and the hugely popular duck race. This year’s quackers event offered a £1,000 first prize and raised £10,000 for the local community. We were keen to show the Llandovery Rotarians what we do.

Getting the Elidyr experience

One our learners, did an incredible job leading the tour starting with naming every animal in the small holding. Visitors were then invited to look in the poly tunnels at the latest harvest and explore the site down to the Education Hub with a peek in one of our houses, Ty Pickwick along the way.

Our learner then told the group about some of the targets she was working towards, what life is like for her living in shared accommodation along with tasks she completes in the holidays.

The Rotarians were then greeted with a salute from Laurence in the Education Hub! The woodwork craft area and kitchen areas were all in full swing with residents and learners keen to greet our guests. They were shown examples of products created in sessions and how we address targets.

Finally, Iulian immersed the group into the world of VR before they all enjoyed refreshments in the Atrium.

Thanks to the staff, residents and learners that were such wonderful hosts and a huge thanks to Llandovery Rotary Club for taking the time to visit.
